Professor Ana Elisabete Farinha Ferreira e Dias Pereira is a distinguished Portuguese legal scholar, attorney, and researcher specializing in bioethics, philosophy of law, and social philosophy. Her extensive academic background and professional experience have significantly contributed to the intersection of law, ethics, and emerging technologies.
Professor Ferreira earned her Bachelor's degree in Law from the University of Coimbra in 2009. She continued at the same institution to complete a Master's degree in Law, focusing on the Philosophy of Law, in 2011, with a thesis titled "Discricionariedade, Judícia e Responsabilidade do Juiz" ("Discretion, Judgment, and Responsibility of the Judge"), which received a grade of 17 out of 20. In 2019, she obtained her Ph.D. in Bioethics from the Portuguese Catholic University, presenting the dissertation "A Responsabilidade no Vértice das Neurociências - Da Neuroética ao Neurodireito" ("Responsibility at the Apex of Neurosciences - From Neuroethics to Neurolaw"), awarded Magna Cum Laude. Further enhancing her expertise, she completed an International Postdoctoral Program in New Technologies and Law in 2021 at the Mediterranea International Centre for Human Rights Research in Italy.
Professor Ferreira serves as an Assistant Professor at the Instituto Superior Miguel Torga, where she imparts knowledge in her areas of specialization. She is also a Collaborating Researcher at the Instituto Jurídico of the Faculty of Law at the University of Coimbra and at the Centre for Biomedical Law of the same faculty. Her legal practice includes her role as an attorney and legal consultant, with 15 years of experience in the field. Notably, she held the position of Councilor for Education, Health, and Social Action at the Municipality of Ferreira do Zêzere from October 2021 to January 2024.
